Heart Mountain Panoramic Alberta

Heart Mountain is another one of those early season hikes. Accessible from the TransCanada Hi-way it starts off with the junction of Heart Creek Trail. This trail starts the accent immediately and doesn't let up. It may not be suitable for the average person as it does involve some exposure and some minor rock climbs. The trailhead sign warns you of this. If you choose you can head up part way to get a great view of the Bow Valley. During the early season there may be snow/ice on the accent and the ridge which could make things a little dicey. Once you hit the top you walk around the horseshoe enjoying great views of the Bow Valley, Barrier Lake and the Foothills to the east. The decent at the other end of the horseshoe is steep but not as hard as the accent.
