Burns Lake

Rating: 4 of 5

Burns Lake Kananaksis Alberta

Burns Lake is a small but deeper gem of a lake located in Kananaksis Country. Access to this lake is either via a very long trail via the Sheep River trail or from a very steep scree hike over a col from hi-way 40. The waters of this lake are a somewhat cloudy green making sight fishing unlikely.

Burns Lake Cutthroat Trout
The cutthroat trout in Burns Lake have never been overly aggressive in my experience. I have visited twice and my catch rate was not too impressive. That said the fish in this lake are nicely sized with most caught in the 14 to 16" range and one at 17".
